Western Air Commander visits Air Force Station in Udhampur

Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Western Air Command Air Marshal SS Soman today visited the Air Force Station in Udhampur and expressed satisfaction with the functioning of the base, while exhorting the personnel to strive towards maintaining high standards in the service.
Air Marshal Soman was accompanied by his wife Rashmi Soman, who is the President of Air Force Wives Welfare Association (Regional) of the Western Air Command (WAC), a defence spokesman said.
He was received by Group Captain Devendra P Hirani Station Commander, Air Force Station Udhampur, and his wife Madhu Hirani, President, Air Force Wives Welfare Association (local), and other senior officers, the spokesman said.
Soman visited Air Force Station Udhampur as part of his familiarisation tour to the units under Western Air Command.
It is his first visit of this base of IAF after taking over the command of Western Air Command, the most operational command of the Indian Air Force.
He expressed satisfaction with the operational, maintenance and administrative aspects of the station's functioning, the spokesperson said.
He appreciated the professionalism displayed by the station and stressed upon them to achieve higher standards in all spheres of activities in service to the nation.
After inspecting various sections of the station, the Air Marshal interacted with aircrew and the other personnel and took stock of the various measures being undertaken by the station for the welfare of its personnel.
The AOC-in-C held detailed discussions regarding operations in the region.
Rashmi on the other hand visited all the projects and institutions of the Air Force Wives Welfare Association at Air Force Station Udhampur, including Air Force Primary School and a play school named 'Bachpan'.
She expressed satisfaction on the way these ventures are operated and maintained.
