People in the coastal belt got the much needed respite from the scorching heat as the mercury dropped in many areas. The state capital Bhubaneswar where the maximum temperature had shot up to 42 degree Celsius yesterday experienced fall in the mercury level to 40.5 degree today.
Similarly, the temperature in Chandabali which was the hottest place in the state yesterday at 42.3 degree Celsius dropped to 38.3 degree, the met office here said.
Similarly, the mercury level touched 41 degree Celsius at Sambalpur, Talcher and Sonepur, while Jharsuguda recorded 40.9 degree and Hirakud 40.8 degree Celsius, it said.
The MeT office predicted that heat wave conditions would prevail in some areas of coastal and north interior parts of the state over the next two days.
