Of the total arrivals since the beginning of procurement season on April 1, 2016, as much as 31,98,157 tonnes of wheat has been purchased by government agencies, a spokesman of the Food and Supplies Department said.
He said while 8,99,101 tonnes of wheat has been procured by the Food and Supplies Department, HAFED procured 10,77,749 tonnes.
Central agency Food Corporation of India purchased 3,33,185 tonnes of wheat, the Haryana Agro Industries Corporation 2,55,590 tonnes, and the Haryana Warehousing Corporation 6,32,532 tonnes.
