Wheat procurement in Punjab so far has reached 117.92 lakh tonnes as against 110.78 lakh tonnes in the corresponding period last year; while wheat purchase in Haryana is reported at 64.84 lakh tonnes as compared to 58.68 lakh tonnes during the corresponding period last year.
Out of total procurement in Punjab so far, wheat procurement by government agencies stood at 115.05 lakh tonnes while private traders bought 2.87 lakh tonnes, an official spokesman said here.
Punjab and Harayna were eyeing wheat procurement of 115 lakh tonnes and 65 lakh tonnes respectively before the start of Rabi Marketing season 2014-15.
