Wheat, rice basmati fall on increased supply, reduced offtake

Wheat and rice basmati prices fell up to Rs 200 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today on increased supplies from producing belts against reduced offtake from flour mills and stockists.
Marketmen said increased supplies from producing belts against reduced offtake from flour mills and stockists mainly kept pressure on wheat and rice basmati prices.
In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) fell by Rs 15 to Rs 1,630-1,635 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded lower by the same margin to Rs 1,635-1,640 per 90 kg.
Atta flour mills, maida and sooji also eased to Rs 870-890, Rs 930-950 and Rs 970-990 against last close of Rs 880-900, Rs 950-970 and Rs 980-1,000 per 50 kg, respectively.

In the rice section, basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety also dropped by Rs 200 each to Rs 8,600-8,900 and Rs 8,000-8,600 per quintal, respectively.
