Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today said the state government was committed to the welfare of tribals.
Addressing a huge gathering of tribals on the occasion of World Adivasi Day here, Patnaik said, "I am delighted to meet the members of the Adivasi community today. Our party is working for the development of Adivasis and will continue to do so.
Patnaik said the newly constructed Gurupriya bridge in Malkangiri district has been dedicated to the tribals and will usher development in the cut-off area now named as 'Swabhiman Anchal'.
Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) also observed the world Adivasi Day in different manner by holding rallies.
Earlier in the day Pattanaik also unveiled a life size statue of noted freedom fighter Birsa Munda on the occasion of the World Day for Indigenous People.
