Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) says it will be able to meet increasing energy load this summer.
However, it has appealed to the consumers to refrain themselves from putting unauthorised load on the electricity distribution system.
A DHBVN spokesman said here today that unauthorised extension of load by consumers is the reason of interruptions in power supply, including low voltage, tripping, break downs, damage to transformers, that is why it is declared offence under the Electricity Act and hence it invites heavy penalty.
But consumers, being unaware of this fact, extend load at their residences and work places by installing additional gadgets without giving any intimation to DHBVN.
The Nigam does not allow load of more than 70 per cent of the capacity on its electricity distribution system as per rules.
As and when load on the system crosses the limit of 70 per cent in its books, it augments capacity of the system. But in case of unauthorised extension of load it becomes difficult for the officials to justify a scheme of augmentation of capacity of the system.
The spokesman said that with the onset of summer, more and more people are buying air-conditioners and desert coolers, leading to increase in load.
This unauthorised extension of load may create hurdles in continuity of quality power supply and it becomes difficult for the officials to get a scheme of augmentation of capacity approved, he said.
Due to extensive use of ground water and scanty rains, underground water level is dropping that compels farmers to install motors of higher capacity at their tube wells, he said.
