WIPO recognises Info Edge's right on Naukarie.com domain

The World Intellectual Property Organisation has ordered an entity owning 'naukarie.com' to transfer this domain name to Info Edge (India) Limited, which runs the popular job website Naukri.com.

Abs IT Solution was using a deceptively similar domain name that is almost identical to Naukri.com except for the inclusion of the letters "a" and "e", Info Edge said.

The World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) has passed an order transferring the domain name "naukarie.com" from Abs IT Solution to Info Edge (India) Limited.

WIPO has also recognised the rights of Info Edge (India) Limited on the 'NAUKRI' and 'NAUKRI.COM' trademarks.

Abs IT Solution and its associates were approaching individuals who are engaged in the process of job search through calls/mails in order to encash upon the reputation of Naukri.com which is part of Info Edge (India) Limited.

"They led the customers to believe that services offered by them are those of Naukri.com thereby inducing customers to deposit the money towards various services which were never delivered," Naukri.com said in a release.

Another similar case was instituted by Info Edge (India) Limited earlier in 2014 before the Delhi High Court against a group of individuals who had been operating on similar lines by using the domain name CVNaukri.com and misleading innocent jobseekers by seeking to draw an association with Naukri.com.

"After coming across several instances of such fraudulent job offers being made in their name by unscrupulous elements the company has initiated various actions -- both civil and criminal -- against these fraudsters and has also issued separate public notices/advisories in this regard," Naukri.com said.

A large number of other websites have been created and are being utilised in a similar manner in order to swindle jobseekers.

In case a job seeker is approached in a similar manner by any individual posing as an associate of Naukri.com, they are advised to clarify the same by approaching Naukri.com at compliance@naukri.com.
