Krishnan had kept in a gunny bag the cash, sale proceeds of a hereditary property, in his house at Thekkur and was shocked to see it missing two days ago.
On a complaint from him, police questioned his relatives. When they grilled Murugeswari, wife of Krishnan's brother, she "confessed" that she had stolen the money with the help of her relatives Kannan and Vadivel.
They had hidden the money in a ghat area near the house.
