Suman Devi (30) and her daughter Ashiqa (10) were at home when the house caught fire due to a short-circuit in Pudel village yesterday night, they said.
While Ashiqa died on the spot, Suman succumbed to her injuries at a hospital, they said.
A case has been registered in this connection, they said, adding an investigation is underway.
