Police today arrested a woman after a video that went viral showed her dragging her 75-year-old mother-in-law on the road in full public view.
The incident took place at Talapali village under Gaisilat block in Odisha's Bargarh district, Additional Superintendent of Police Yashobant Senapati said.
"The incident had taken place at about 8 am on Thursday when the accused thrashed her elderly mother-in-law in her house and later dragged her on the village road," Senapati said.
He said the police came to know about the incident from the social media where a video clipping of the incident was posted. A team of Gaisilat police went to the village and arrested the woman.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused had land related disputes with her mother-in-law, Senapati said.
