The incident took place on March 26 in Tulinj when 40-year-old Shantaram Kale quarrelled with his wife over a petty issue, Assistant Police Inspector of Tulinj police station S M Potdar said.
In a fit of rage, the woman, whose identity has been withheld, poured boiling oil on Shantaram and tried to kill him, the officer said.
Prima facie, the woman doubted that Shantaram was having an extra-martial affair, Potdar said, adding he was admitted to a local hospital.
The woman was produced before a local magistrate which remanded her in police custody till March 31, police said.
