According to police, the woman identified as M Deepti was travelling in a Churchgate-bound local train and at about 12 pm, she plunged in the creek from the moving train.

As Deepti, a resident of Bhoiwada in central Mumbai, left her belongings in the train, a co-passenger notified the railway authority before handing over her bag, police said adding, "A mobile phone was found in her bag, following which, her father was informed about the incident."

Fire Brigade personnel fished out the body after hours of struggle, police said adding that the reason for her extreme step was not yet clear.
