A 55-year-old woman died as two rival factions opened fire at each other in a village in Uttar Pradesh, a police official said today.
Sushma Devi died while nine others, including six women were injured as the two groups clashed with each other following a heated argument during a religious event last night, they said.
The incident took place in Parsauna village under Jaswantnagar police station.
"A bhagwat katha was going on in the village when rival factions got involved in a verbal duel leading to firing in which Sushma Devi died," SSP Ashok Kumar Tripathi said.
Those injured were taken to Saifai hospital. Further investigations are on, Tripathi added.
