"Hansaben Rajeshbhai Vora first killed her son Mihir by strangling him and later committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan," said inspector A V Silva of Dhoraji town police station.
The incident came to light today when one of the relatives of the deceased went to meet her, he said.
Police are yet to ascertain the motive behind the incident and have sent the bodies for postmortem after registering a case of accidental death.
