Woman kills self over dowry harassment in AP

A 24-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by setting herself on fire after she was harassed for dowry, police said today.
Yesterday, K Gowri took the extreme step by setting herself on fire when here husband and father in law were not in the house, Gajapathinagarm Sub Inspector Sai Krishna said.
Her mother-in-law had gone to the backyard of the house when the incident took place. Hearing her screams, neighbours rushed her to a local hospital where she succumbed to her burn injuries, the officer said.

Meanwhile, Railway police said tonight that one person has been taken into custody in connection with the incident.

The arrest will be recorded only after the complainant identifies the person, police said.
