Woman mauled to death by tiger

A woman was mauled to death today by a tiger in Valmiki Tiger Reserve (VTR) in Bihar's West Champaran district, a forest official said.
The victim, Devanti Devi (30), was attacked by a tiger in the forest where she had gone to collect fodder, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Alok Kumar said.
She was found dead in the forest area, he said, adding the body has been sent for post-mortem.
Kumar said that the forest department has given Rs 10,000 to the bereaved family for last rites and a recommendation will be made for providing compensation to the family.
