Sonapati (28) and her son Ashish (2) were killed on the spot while her husband and daughter seriously injured when their bicycle was hit by a speeding dumper last night, police said.
The locals chased the dumper and handed it over to the police although the driver managed to escape, police said, adding that the bodies have been sent for post mortem while the injured have been admitted to hospital.
Infuriated over the incident, the locals blocked the traffic for hours demanding compensation for the victims but were somehow pacified by senior officials who rushed to the spot.
