Woman official of Maha cooperative dept held for taking bribe

A senior woman official attached to the Cooperative Department in Raigad district was arrested for allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 5000 today, police said.
Rakhi Gawde, Assistant Registrar, Office of the Cooperation and Registrar, Cooperative Societies, was caught while she was allegedly accepting the illegal gratification from a complainant near her office in Raigad town, said Additional SP, Thane ACB, Srinivas Ghatge.
"An offence has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act against the officer," Ghatge said.
According to the complainant, Gawde, a class-II officer, allegedly sought the bribe for forwarding application made by the complainant seeking marketing capital under a scheme for housing societies, to Fisheries department.
After the complainant approached the Anti Corruption Bureau, the agency laid a trap and caught Gawde.
