Woman professor hangs self

A 32-year-old woman professor of a private college here allegedly committed suicide at her residence by hanging herself to a ceiling fan today, police said.
The deceased Indu Sharma was living alone in a flat at Misrod area for the last one-and-a-half years, they said.
Police said they reached the spot after being informed by Sharma's neighbours that her flat was closed from inside and found her body hanging from the fan after entering the flat.
Meanwhile, Sharma's family members alleged that she was in a live-in relationship with a police official which could have been the cause behind her suicide.

However, Sub Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP), Misrod area, Atiq Ahmed Khan said police would comment on the issue only after recording statements of Sharma's family and after conducting probe.
Superintendent of Police (Rural and Traffic) T Amongla Iyer also visited the spot.
