A woman Railway Gatekeeper was allegedly assaulted by some miscreants when she refused to open the gate at a railway crossing here.
The miscreants wanted the level crossing gate between Aralvaymoli and North Panakudi stations to be opened on Friday. However, since the gate was closed for the train to go, the official declined as signals to the train had already been cleared, a railway press release said here today.
This provoked them and they attacked the Gatekeeper Jhansi who has been admitted to Medical college hospital at Asaripallam.
The miscreants have been arrested.
