The 35-year-old mason Siba Prasad Malik, hailing from the same village as that of the 26-year-old woman and known to her, had taken her to a deserted spot and allegedly commited the brutality on April 4, police said.
Malik was absconding from the area ever since and only returned yesterday.
The victim was medically examined and her statement also been recorded a day after the incident and there was corroborative evidence of sexual assault on her, police said.
