"The body bearing injury marks was found yesterday bereft of cloth and her saree was around the neck in three to four folds leading to suspicion that she was strangulated to death," Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Jajpur Road, J K Das said.
The body condition indicated that the woman was sexually assaulted before being murdered and a post-mortem report is awaited, he said.
Identified as a resident of nearby Rampas village, the woman, living with her mother, went missing after she left home to go to a nearby market on Thursday, he said.
