The body of a woman was found hanging from a pillar of the foot bridge connecting two platforms at Dhanbad railway station in the early hours of Saturday, Government Railway Police(GRP) officer said.
The woman, who appeared to be around 30 years, was hanging by a sari from the pillar of the footbridge which connects the fourth and the fifth platforms of the station, the GRP, Dhanbad Railway Station in-charge, H N Singh said here.
The fourth and fifth platforms become deserted after the last train of the day- the Burdwan-Dhanbad passenger leaves the station at midnight.
The sanitation staff informed us about a woman hanging from a pillar of the footbridge early morning, he said.
A bag containing a sweater, a shawl and a water bottle and a purse with Rs 150 were found on the spot of incident, Singh added.
