The incident took place at the family's flat on the ground floor of Anand-Sagar Apartments in Maninagar area.
According to the Maninagar police, Prakash Gangwani (69), his wife Nimmi (60) and their son Gaurav (30) tried to commit suicide.
In the afternoon, a relative who lives in the same apartment checked on them as nobody in the family had been seen outside since morning.
"When no one responded, he went to the backside and saw, through the window Nimmiben hanging by a rope from the ceiling. After breaking open the main door, they saw Gangwani and his son lying unconscious," said inspector N S Desai.
