Work on for qualitative improvement in passenger facilities

Railway minister Suresh Prabhu today said the NDA government was working towards quick reforms and qualitative improvement in passenger facilities at railway stations.
"Work on bringing a qualitative improvement in passenger facilities will be taken up at a fast pace," Prabhu who was here to lay the foundation stone of works like waiting rooms, toilets, ticket windows and parkings at Bareilly junction, Izzatnagar and city station here, said.
The work on all the three stations will be done at the cost of Rs 4.5 crore, the minister said adding that the government was not in favour of making big announcements and running more trains but bringing an improvement in the rail services and track security.
For improving the facilities at all the major railway stations in Uttar Pradesh, talks were being held with the state government, he said.
The minister indicated that rail service improvement works will be carried out on PPP model.
Japanese technology will be used for checking accidents, the Railway minister said.
On the request of Union ministers Santosh Gangwar and Maneka Gandhi, Prabhu said the Ramnagar to Agra bi-weekly train will be extended uptill Jaipur and run daily.
The minister said that on the demand of people, a train will be run to south India from January.
Earlier he also took stock of the broad gauge conversion work in Pilibhit.
