In a message to President Pranab Mukherjee, Xi has extended deep condolences to the victims of the disaster, as well as sympathy to the families of the victims and the wounded, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
In his message to Prime Minster Narendra Modi, Li said he was shocked to hear that a train derailed in India's northern state of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, causing major casualties.
On behalf of the Chinese government, he offered his deepest condolences to the victims and their families.
