JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav has written to Union Minister Jitendra Singh stressing the need to implement the OBC reservation policy in the right spirit, alleging that some central universities and institutions like JNU, Hyderabad Central University and Banaras Hindu University were not following it.

OBC reservation is not implemented at all levels like of assistant professor, associate professor and professor in the central universities and central institutions which are getting aid from the Centre, Yadav said, forwarding a representation by some OBC aspirants.

"Although in some institutions, OBC reservation policy is implemented at all levels, yet there are some central institutions implementing reservation only at the level of assistant professor, which is not as per guidelines issued by the Government of India," he wrote.

He requested the Minister of State for Personnel and Public Grievances to issue clear guidelines inter-alia other demands mentioned in the representation for implementation of the reservation policy "in the right spirit so as to avoid unrest in the OBC aspirants".

The representation said that due to a restrictive official order, "there is no single professor and associate professor in prominent universities like Jawaharlal Nehru University, Hyderabad Central University and Benaras Hindu University from the OBC community".

It also demanded that use of 'Not Found Suitable' clause against OBC candidates in faculty recruitment should be stopped and that vacant seats of all higher education institutions should be filled among others.
