Yakshagana artiste and teacher Bannanje Sanjeeva Suvarna have been chosen for this year's 'Yakshamangala' award.
The award was instituted by the Yakshagana study centre of the Mangalore University.
Amruth Someshwar had made rich contributions in the field as a researcher, organiser and Yakshagana playwright. Bannanje Sanjeeva Suvarna had worked as an artist in Shivarama Karanth's troupe and had also served as a teacher at Udupi MGM college for 25 years, a release said.
Raghava Nambiar, author of 'Himmela'was selected for the 'Yakshamangala Krithi' award for the best work on Yakshagana. The Yakshamangala' award carries a cash prize of Rs 25,000, citation and a memento. The 'Yakshamangala Krithi' award comprises a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and a citation.
