Yeshwanth keeps winning; bad day for seeded players in girls section

Yeshwant Loganathan of Tamil Nadu continued his good run to advance to the last 16 of the boys singles in the adidas-MCC National junior (under-18) clay court tennis tournament here today.
Yeshwanth, who had upset the second-seed yesterday moved into the pre-quarterfinals with an easy 6-1, 6-1 win over Aryan Pandit of Haryana.
He had shocked the second-seed Rithvik Choudary Bollipalli of Telangana 6-4, 7-5 on Monday.
In the girls section, top-seed Akansha Bhan and the second-seed Tanisha Kashyap had it easy but the No.3, No.4 and No 5 seeds crashed out.
Vinitha Momadi of Telangana upset the No.3 seed Salsa Aher of Maharashtra in straight sets while qualifier Chandrika Joshi of Karnataka edged out 5th seed Sravya Shivani in two tie-break sets. Shreya Tatavarti of Telengana upset fourth-seed Shivani Ingle of Maharashtra in a close third set tie-break.
In the boys event, top-seed Parikshit Somani of West Bengal, got the better of qualifier LR Balaji of Tamil Nadu 7-6(7), 6-2. Tamil Nadu players - fifth-seed Dhakshineswar Suresh and 11th seed Oges Theyjo won their matches in straight sets to move into the pre-quarterfinals.
In minor upsets, Deepak Senthil Kumar and Lohith Aksha Bathrinath beat 16th sseed Himanshu Mor of Haryana and 11th sseed Dev Javyia of Gujrat respectivelys.
