The carcass of a four-year-old rhino with its horn missing was found in Gorumara National Park in Jalpaiguri district of north Bengal today.
The rhino was killed last night at Dhupjhora in the Gorumara National Park by poachers using an instrument which was not so sharp, Divisional Forest Officer Sunita Ghatak said.
The poachers then removed the horn of the rhino.
Poaching of such a young rhino was not heard in many years, Ghatak said, adding security would have to be strengthened inside the national park to protect the animals.
