A 22-year-old youth allegedly committed suicide today by hanging himself at his room in Ghantaghar area here.
Rakesh Mishra, a daily wage labourer, called his parents in Shahjahanpur before taking the extreme step and told them about his plans, said Veer Vikram Singh, Station House Officer of Ghantaghar police station.
Mishra used to live with a roommate, Ram Eish, in Grain Maket area.
After the call, the parents called Eish and asked him to persuade Mishra against taking the extreme step, police said.
However, by the time Eish reached the room he found Mishra hanging from the ceiling.
Reason behind Mishra's suicide is not known yet, police said, adding that a probe was on in the case.
