Mohammad Ishfaq, a post graduate student, along with some other youth decided to take a bath in the local Tawi river where he slipped and fell into the deeper portion of the river yesterday, a police officer said.
Ishfaq had gone to Thandi Kassi village in the district to meet a relative, police said.
He said that despite the efforts of the youth and the police team that reached the spot, Ishfaq could not be saved.
His body was fished out and was handed over to the relatives after all legal and medical formalities, he said, adding that a case has been registered and further investigations is on.
