The accused, Dashrath Thackeray, along with two other family members, yesterday went to the house of his sister's in-laws in Badanewadi hamlet of the taluka and tried to inquire why they were harassing her, Assistant Superintendent of Police Bachchan Singh said.
The discussion turned into a verbal duel during which Dashrath attacked his sister's father-in-law Damoo Dagdoo Wagh (aged around 56 years) with a stick following which he collapsed and died, he said.
Later, Dashrath was arrested and offences were registered against him and two other persons -- Kisan Thackeray and Gulabbai Thackeray -- under sections 302 (murder), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 504 read with 34 of the IPC, he said.
