The body, with stab wound in the stomach, was identified as that of one Ashok, a resident of Gaddha colony here, Deputy Superintendent of Police Anil Yadav said.
Ashok had left his home to fetch milk around 8 PM yesterday and his body was recovered today from the canal in partly submerged condition after getting information from the villagers, he said.
The deceased was was living with his father, mother and two younger sisters.
An FIR has been registered and body has been sent for postmortem, Yadav said, adding all angles related to his death was being probed.
