Zinc up 0.5% on spot demand

Metal for delivery in August edged up by 0.45%

Zinc prices moved up by 0.52% to Rs 144.35 per kg in futures market today as speculators created fresh positions amid strong demand in the spot market.

Further, a rising trend in select base metals at the London Metal Exchange supported the upside.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in July traded higher by 75 paise, or 0.52%, to Rs 144.35 per kg in a business turnover of 2,325 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in August edged up by 65 paise, or 0.45%, to Rs 144.20 per kg in 460 lots.

Market analysts said apart from rising demand in the spot markets, a firming trend in select base metals overseas influenced zinc prices at futures trade here.
