Zinc futures prices today edged up by 0.37 per cent to Rs 148.40 per kg after speculators built-up positions amid a firming trend in the spot market on good demand.

However, metal's weakness at the London Metal Exchange (LME) limited the upside.

Zinc for delivery in May was up by 55 paise, or 0.37 per cent, to Rs 148.40 per kg with a business turnover of 207 lots in futures trading at the Multi Commodity Exchange,.

The June contract rose by a similar margin to trade at Rs 149.05 per kg in a business turnover of seven lots.

Traders said fresh positions created by speculators on the back of improved demand in the spot market, helped zinc futures to trade higher but a weak trend in metal at the LME, limited the gains.
