A driver of a local body member in Bhoopalapally District of Telangana was today arrested on the charge of 'unauthorisedly' carrying a pistol at the Metro Rail Station in Uppal here, police said.
Security staff at the station last night found T Sathish Kumar in 'possession' of the liecensed pistol of Kataram Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency member Challa Narayan Reddy, they said.
Following a complaint by them, police registered a case against Kumar under the Arms Act and arrested him today.
During his questioning, he told police that Reddy had gone to Pune for business purpose and the weapon was handed over to him.
The 7.65 mm pistol and 8 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the driver, a senior police official said.
