MSME loans cross Rs 20k cr

PSU banks have lent Rs 16,360 crore while their private sector counterparts have advanced Rs 2,565 crore credit as on June 2015

Banks in Odisha have advanced loans of more than Rs 20,000 crore to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), according to data collated by the State Level Bankers' Committee (SLBC).

By the end of June 2015, the outstanding loans to the MSME sector stood at Rs 20628.60 crore compared to Rs 19491.74 crore in June 2014, an increase of 5.83 per cent. The outstanding balance include Rs 3432.24 crore advanced to the medium enterprises through 1914 accounts while the credit outstanding to the micro and small enterprises (MSEs) at the end of June quarter stood at Rs 9120.16 crore and Rs 8076.20 crore respectively.

The public sector banks have lent Rs 16360.39 crore while their private sector counterparts have advanced Rs 2565.05 crore credit as on June 2015. Similarly, lending by regional rural banks and co-operative banks to MSME sector stood at Rs 1616.56 crore and Rs 86.60 crore respectively.

In the first quarter of this fiscal, banks have advanced Rs 1860.19 crore through 46911 accounts. The credit flow to the small and medium units for the quarter was Rs 861.36 crore and Rs 110.30 crore respectively. The banks have advanced Rs 888.53 crore to the micro enterprises during the April-June quarter.

The banks having operations in the state have extended loans of Rs 213.36 crore to MSEs during the quarter under Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro & Small Enterprises (CGTMSE).
