The Congress yesterday sharpened its attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) calling Prime Minister A B Vajpayee and Union home minister L K Advani as the two faces of the same Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh.

One is Dr Jekyll and the other Mr Hyde of BJP, said Congress spokesman V N Gadgil.

The comment refers to Vajpayees emotional outburst in Lok Sabha which has strengthened the view that while the Prime Minister was a moderate, Advani was the hardliner.

Advani, who had spoken before Vajpayee in the House, had praised the RSS as an organisation that instils discipline in society.

Referring to the BJPs denial that there was any hidden agenda, Gadgil said It is true that there is no hidden agenda, there is only an invisible agenda which is coming out now.

He said Vajpayees speech on Wednesday was an indication of the turmoil that was going on within the BJP. He (Vajpayee) is under constant pressure.

First, he was not allowed to make Jaswant Singh the finance Minister and then when he wanted to retain the finance portfolio, he was overruled, Gadgil said and added that the BJP had also overruled the Prime Ministers choice for Lok Sabha Speaker.

Vajpayee says one thing, Advani says something different. It will be a false picture of the BJP if we say that one is liberal and the other is a hardcore. Both are controlled by Nagpur, Gadgil said.
