Bentley Systems, one of the worldwide leaders in engineering software products, is planning to set up a wholly-owned subsidiary in India.
"We will initiate the process of setting up the subsidiary in India by early January and Bentley India should be in place within six months of that date," Bentley Systems' India general manager Banerjee Sabyasachee told Business Standard.
The US-based multinational currently operates through a liaison office in India. "The setting of the subsidiary will offer us more flexibility in our operations," said Sabyasachee.

"We are not currently looking at software development in India as we are already sourcing software from a couple of Indian software houses," Sabyasachee said.
However, the company is not averse to acquisitions in India.
It is also planning to make strategic investments in Indian companies.
"We are in the process of initiating dialogue in this regard and we will be finalising the deal once our subsidiary is on-stream," added Sabyasachee.
