The Cabinet secretary chaired a meeting of chief secretaries, power secretaries and chairmen of nine state electricity boards on Y2K compliance of all systems in their respective regions. An official release said only 55 power stations in the country, of up to 315 mw, operated on digital systems and were likely to have Y2K-related problems. The release said the National Informatics Centre had already carried out an audit of 30 of these stations and the remaining stations would be audited during the next 15 days.
