Closure Of Projects Ordered

The agriculture ministry has directed closure of all co-ordinated research projects on tobacco in three centres by the Central Tobacco Research Institute and has directed them to look at alternate crops in these areas.

A part of the government's anti-smoking campaign, the ministry order will apply to the projects in Nandyal (Andhra Pradesh), Berhampur (Orissa) and a third project in Uttar Pradesh.
