Ford May Face Penalty
Ford Motor Co may have to pay a penalty for withholding documents during a government investigation into engine-stalling problems in the 1980s, USA Today reported. It said federal safety regulators issued a rare "special order" to Ford.
A special order requires a company to provide a sworn statement that it provided all the documents needed in an investigation, or, if not, to explain why, according to the paper.
The special order issued to Ford involves engine-stalling in 1983-85 Ford Mercury and Lincoln cars, the paper said.
