Indal Hydro Extrusions Ltd (IHEL) has embarked on a Rs 45 crore expansion plan to set up a 13,000 tonne new aluminium extrusion product plant and adding 10,000 tonnes capacity to its existing two units.
IHEL is a joint venture between the Indian Aluminium Company Ltd (Indal) and Hydro Aluminium Extrusion (HAEX), a division of Norsk Hydro, Norway. While Indal holds 34.6 per cent of IHELs equity, HAEX holds the rest.
The president of IHEL, Robin N Parbat told Business Standard, ``We plan to invest around Rs 45 crore to set up our new aluminium extrusion plant and to enhance production in two of our existing plants.
Parbat said the new plant to be set up in western India will manufacture and market their latest aluminium extrusion product the Domal Building Systems. Upgradation of the existing plants in Cochin and Orissa is expected to beef up capacity from 8000 tonnes and 5000 tonnes respectively to around 13000 tonnes in each plant by 1997 end.
``By the end of the first year, we plan to manufacture 35,000 tonnes of extrusion for Domal systems, Parbat said. ``In addition, we also plan to get into marketing, he added.
