Moderate Gains

Equities moved up further and closed with moderate gains on the MSE yesterday, while a few counters declined. The MSE share price index improved to 3,994.50 from 3,985.19 points.

The Associated Cement Company scrip went up by Rs 11.45 to Rs 1,440. ITC rose by Rs 5.55 to Rs 721.80, Software Solution moved up by Rs 3.55 to Rs 154.20, Mahindra & Mahindra by Rs 5.70 to Rs 270, Reliance Industries by Rs 4.55 to Rs 176.20 and Telco by Rs 11.20 to Rs 262.50. Nedungadi Bank spurted by Rs 5 to Rs 90.

Bank of India, Coats Viyella, Ashok Leyland, D Square Soft, ICICI, Larsen, Nagarjuna Fertilizer, Periakra Malai, Sail, Sic Agency, Chemfab Alkali and Dhanalakshmi Bank were better. However, Electropoly slipped by Rs 3.55 to Rs 49.50. DC Kothari Export dropped further by Rs 2 to Rs 21. Integ Data eased by Rs 1.15 to Rs 22.60 and Penta Comm by Rs 1.20 to Rs 42.05. Best & Crompton, IFCI, Karnataka Bank, Ratan Jewel and Satyam were easier. LV Bank ruled steady at Rs 44.
