Sensex Gains 35 Points On Short-Covering

The NSE-50 index gained a single point over its previous close of 976. The index opened lower at 973 and touched a high of 981, before closing at 977.

The turnover on the exchange once again crossed the Rs 1000-crore mark to touch Rs 1035.27 crore, with 5.34 crore shares being traded. SBI continued to top the turnover list at Rs 369.79 crore followed by Reliance (Rs 249.23 crore) and ITC (Rs 88.45 crore). BSE's turnover stood at Rs 480.03 crores with Rs 428.99 crore being contributed by A group.
