State Govt Reshuffle Police Top Brass

In a major shake-up in the police department, the Maharashtra government yesterday transferred 20 senior police officials, including police commissioners of Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur and Solapur.

Mumbai Police Commissi -oner, Subhash Malhotra, who recently came in for criticism from Sena chief Bal Thackeray over the law and order situation in the megapolis, has been transferred as Managing Director of Police (housing welfare coropration) Mumbai. Additional DGP (law and order), Mumbai, R H Mendonca would be the new Police Commissioner of Mumbai in the rank of additional DG.

S S Puri, Managing Director of Police (housing welfare corporation), has been shifted as additional DGP (law and order) Mumbai.

P S Pasricha, Special IGP(traffic) Mumbai, would now take over as Joint Commissioner of Police (law and order) Mumbai, from Charan Singh Azaad, who has been shifted as Deputy Commandant (home guards) and Deputy Director (civil defence).

V K Talwar, Deputy Commandant,(home guards) and Director (civil defence), has been transferred as Special IGP (protection of civil rights).

M G Narawane, IG (prisons), Pune, has been appointed as special IGP, traffic, Mumbai. T Shrigarvel, Commissioner of Police, Nagpur, has been shifted as IG (prisons), Pune.

K K Kashyap, Commissioner (CID intelligence), Mumbai, has been transferred as Commissioner of Police, Pune, in place of A K Agrawal, who would be the new Special IGP (ACB), Mumbai. K B Chakravarty, special IGP (PCR), Mumbai, has been transferred as Commissioner of Police, Nagpur. D N Jadhav, special IGP Railway, Mumbai has been transferred as Commissioner (CID Intelligence), Mumbai.

S S Suradkar, who was on compulsory waiting, has been appointed as special IGP Railway, Mumbai. T C Wankhede, Director of Public Prosecution, Mumbai, has been appointed as special IGP (planning and coordination) Mumbai. P R R Sharma, additional CP, Pune, has been appointed as Deputy IGP, CID (crime) Pune.

S S Wagal, additional CP, Mumbai, has been appointed as Deputy IGP, Amravati. Pankaj Gupta, deputy IGP Amravati has been shifted as deputy IGP of State Reserve Police Force , Nagpur.

C Prabhakar, DCP (SBL) protection, Mumbai, has been promoted as additional CP, Mumbai.

Ahmed Javed, additional IGP, law and order, Mumbai, has been promoted as Commissioner of Police, Solapur, in the rank of deputy IGP.

Mahesh Gauri, Police Commisisoner of Solapur, has been transferred as additional Commissioner of Police, Pune.
