ACTOR 

Net worth: Rs 2,680 crore

At Rs 32.62 crore, Bachchan senior barely made it to the list top 10 earners for 2016. But his goodwill, along with his evergreen stardom, has helped him comfortably retain second place in this list. 

Salman Khan

ACTOR  Net worth:  Rs 1,340 crore

With Sultan and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo doing well at the box office, Salman Khan, with Rs 270.3 crore, was 2016’s top earner. Shah Rukh Khan (Rs 221.75) finished a distant second.

Aamir Khan

ACTOR Net worth: Rs 1,235 crore

Aamir Khan had a lukewarm 2016 — Dangal only released in the last week of the year. In fact, he fell out of the top 10 earners list for the first time since 2013. Past successes, however, ensure that he still figures dominantly on this list.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni
CRICKETER 

Net worth: Rs 649.9 crore

The former Indian skipper may be in his twilight years, but his net worth remains stellar as ever. Dhoni earned Rs 122.48 crore in 2016, slightly behind Virat Kohli’s Rs 134.44 crore.

 

Virat Kohli

CRICKETER 

Net worth: Rs 396.9 crore

The Indian captain is the undisputed king of the advertising market with more than 10 brands in his kitty. He recently signed an eight-year deal with Puma worth Rs 110-crore. 

Kohli was 2016’s top earner.

Rohit Sharma
CRICKETER

Net worth: Rs 226.8 crore

Despite being out with injury for a major part of the 2016 season, Rohit Sharma still managed to make Rs 24.17 crore during the course of the year. Who knows, he may be the next big thing after Kohli.

 

Yuvraj Singh

CRICKETER
Net worth: Rs 220.5 crore

The Punjab southpaw still continues to be a great story. With a couple of new endorsements coming his way, Yuvraj made Rs 16 crore last year. He recently made another comeback into the Indian team.

Net worth: Rs 83,281 crore

ArcelorMittal reported a net loss of $7.9 billion in 2015 mostly because of a $4.8 billion write-down of its iron ore mining business. Despite his slumping fortunes, Lakshmi Mittal is still the richest NRI businessman.

Micky Jagtiani

FOUNDER, LANDMARK GROUP

Net worth: Rs 29,328 crore

With an estimated wealth of almost Rs 30,000 crore, Jagtiani, the owner of the Dubai-based Landmark group, is the second richest NRI on the list. Jagtiani suspended all Donald Trump-branded products last year after the American President made anti-Muslim remarks.

M A Yusuf Ali

MANAGING DIRECTOR, LULU GROUP

Net worth: Rs 26,650 crore

M A Yusuf Ali, the managing director of Abu Dhabi-based LuLu Group, owns 129 stores across Asia and Egypt. He has also made a $300 million investment in Trivandrum, which includes malls and shopping centres.

MANAGING DIRECTOR, R P GROUP 

Net worth:  Rs 20,663 crore

Ravi Pillai’s RP Group is one of the biggest construction companies in West Asia. In 2015, he expanded his business into Kuwait . Pillai also owns hotels in Dubai and Kerala.

The 34-year-old who is now CEO at Flipkart, the company he founded with Sachin Bansal, has seen his wealth plummet by a couple of thousand crores in the last year. Despite the downturn, he features on the top of this list.

Bhavish Aggarwal

Co-FOUNDER, OLA 

Net worth: Rs 3,000 crore

Notwithstanding stiff competition from Uber, Bhavish Aggarwal’s Ola is going strong. The 30-year-old is the youngest entrepreneur on this list.

Divyank and Bhavin Turakhia

FOUNDERS, DIRECTI  Net worth: Rs 3,000 crore

The Turakhia brothers, the founders of Directi, feature on this list on the back of the sale of their Media.net, a unit of Directi, to a group of Chinese investors.

 

Kunal Bahl

CEO, SNAPDEAL

Net worth: Rs 2,300 crore

Despite recent difficulties, mainly the competition from rivals Amazon and Flipkart, the Snapdeal founder’s net worth has remained steady. Until recently, Bahl was one of the best-paid start-up CEOs in the country.
