Trading Volumes Dip To Rs 185.35 Crore

NSE REPORT

The wholesale debt market segment of the National Stock Exchange witnessed moderate trading, with trading volumes standing at Rs 185.35 crore.

The short-term government securities and the treasury bills dominated the day's trades with calls stubborn at 11 per cent. Prominent among them were the 13.50-per cent central government securities maturing in 1997 and 1998.

The 13.50-per cent central government security maturing in 1998 recorded cumulative deals to the tune of Rs 35 crore at a yield of 11.67 per cent.

The trades, to be settled the same day, were struck at a price of Rs 102.74. The other 13.50-per cent paper maturing in 1997, was dealt for Rs 10 crore at 10.67 per cent. The transaction was settled at a price of Rs 102.80. Among the other dated securities to be traded, the newly issued 13.40-per cent central government security maturing in 1999 was conspicuous. The paper was traded for Rs 5 crore at 13.14 per cent.

In the case of 364-day treasury bills, the paper maturing on July 4 was traded for Rs 10 crore at a yield of 10 per cent. Dealers said the price of this security is not moving significantly.

The 91-day treasury bill maturing on March 1 was traded for Rs 5 crore at 9.90 per cent. The deal is to be settled the same day.
